RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims and solidarity with the government and people of Pakistan following a tragic fire at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital in Islamabad that killed 14 newborn babies.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Saudi Arabia stands in solidarity with the victims’ families and the government and people of Pakistan following this tragic incident, wishing Pakistan and its people security and safety.

Fourteen infants were killed in a fire that broke out in the gynaecology ward of the PIMS hospital in Islamabad early on Wednesday.
In a statement, the Islamabad administration said that the fire broke out on the third floor of the Mother and Child Hospital’s ward. It said that rescue teams rushed to the scene, with six fire brigade vehicles and four ambulances taking part in the rescue operation.

“The fire was immediately brought under control and the children were immediately shifted to the intensive care unit,” it said, adding that 14 children “were completely burnt”.
Muslim World League offers condolences over PIMS hospital fire
Meanwhile, the Muslim World League (MWL) extended its sincere condolences and sympathy to Pakistan, its government and people, and the families of the victims following a hospital fire in Islamabad.

In a statement by the MWL Secretariat-General, MWL Secretary-General and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa expressed solidarity and sympathy with Pakistan, its people, and the families of those who died in the tragic incident. He prayed to Allah Almighty to protect Pakistan and its people from all harm.
