RIYADH: The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS 2026) has honoured six national initiatives led by the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) for their contributions to advancing responsible artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and technological innovation.
Among the honoured projects were the AI Service Providers initiative, the Early Breast Cancer Detection project, the GAIA Generative AI Accelerator, the Tahseen project, the AI Principles and Ethics in the Media Sector initiative developed in partnership with the Ministry of Media, and Nafath, Saudi Arabia’s national digital identity platform, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Friday.
The recognition underscores Saudi Arabia’s advanced standing in data, artificial intelligence, and digital innovation, reflecting the country’s efforts to develop technology-driven solutions with both national and global impact.
These initiatives aim to promote secure digital services, strengthen public trust in emerging technologies, and expand the adoption of AI across key sectors.
The achievement also highlights SDAIA’s continued success on the international stage through the development of innovative national programs that foster responsible AI governance, encourage international cooperation, and support the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, including the Kingdom’s broader ambitions for artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
The summit, organised under the auspices of the International Telecommunication Union and other UN agencies, recognises projects that use information and communication technologies to advance sustainable development and digital inclusion worldwide.
