RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned Iran’s renewed attacks on regional countries, reaffirming its full solidarity with Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan as military tensions continue to rise across the Gulf.
In a statement, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Kingdom stands with the affected countries in all measures they take to protect their security and stability following what it described as “brutal Iranian aggressions.”
The Kingdom said Iran’s actions threaten regional security and stability, violate international law and contradict the principles of good neighbourliness.
Saudi Arabia also called for an immediate halt to all forms of military escalation and urged all parties to return to dialogue and resolve disputes through diplomatic means.
The Saudi statement came as Iran launched fresh attacks across the Gulf after another night of American strikes on Iranian military targets, raising fears that the conflict could spread further and threaten global energy routes.
The United States said its latest strikes targeted Iranian surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage and maritime capabilities. United States Central Command said fighter aircraft, drones, warships and other assets were used in the operation.
Iran announced attacks on Gulf countries hosting United States airbases, including Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan. Kuwaiti authorities said one power generation and water desalination station was hit, causing damage, a fire and disruption to several electricity generation units.
Kuwait’s army later said it was responding to Iranian drone attacks, while Bahrain also reported renewed aerial attacks.
The conflict has also raised concern over maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy routes. Washington said it was enforcing a naval blockade of Iran, while Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they had stopped vessels that violated Tehran’s shipping rules.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has voiced concern over the escalation, particularly attacks on civilian infrastructure in Iran and across the region.
Saudi Arabia’s position highlights the Kingdom’s role in backing regional stability while pressing for restraint, de-escalation and diplomatic solutions at a critical moment for Gulf security.
