A drone attack targeted the residence of Nechirvan Barzani, the president of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, early on Saturday in the city of Erbil.
No immediate casualties were reported, but the incident raised concerns about security in the region.
According to security sources, air defence systems were again activated early Sunday, successfully intercepting and shooting down another drone near the home of Masoud Barzani, the leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party.
Authorities are investigating the origin of the drones, and officials have increased security measures around key locations following the attacks.
