RIYADH: The Saudi Cabinet on Tuesday affirmed the Kingdom’s full support for Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, legitimate government and people, with the aim of ending the coup in the country and restoring the state and its institutions from the Houthis.
Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the Cabinet session held in Riyadh, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
“Following its review of regional developments, the Cabinet affirmed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s full support for the Presidential Leadership Council, the legitimate government, and the brotherly Yemeni people, with the aim of ending the coup in this dear country and restoring the state and its institutions from the terrorist Houthi militia, which has chosen military escalation as an alternative approach to peace, further deepening the humanitarian and economic suffering of Yemen and its brotherly people, while continuing to threaten the region and maritime navigation in the southern Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait,” SPA stated.

The Cabinet commended the outcomes of the emergency meeting of the Strategic-Political and Defence Committee of the Makkah Alliance for Defence, which included affirming solidarity among the three countries and their unified stance in confronting the criminal attacks against the Kingdom that targeted Makkah, Madinah, civilian objects, and civil and economic facilities.
The meeting of the Strategic-Political and Defence Committee of the Makkah Alliance for Defence also resulted in an agreement to activate collective deterrence and immediately move toward the practical implementation of mutual defence commitments, in a manner that enhances military readiness, integration, and the capability to confront such threats.
Pakistan, Turkiye Decide Rapid Deployment of Forces in Saudi Arabia
The Strategic-Political and Defence Committee of the Makkah Alliance for Defence on Monday decided to move immediately to the practical implementation of the collective defence commitments and to take the necessary measures to provide the agreed military forces and capabilities and ensure their rapid deployment in Saudi Arabia.
The decision was taken by the Strategic-Political and Defence Committee of the Makkah Alliance for Defence, comprising Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkiye, in a meeting held in Riyadh, according to a joint statement issued by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir represented Pakistan at the meeting.
Saudi Arabia was represented by Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Chief of General Staff Gen Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili.
Turkiye was represented by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Defence Minister Yasar Guler and Chief of the General Staff General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu.
Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 , Federal Minister for Defence, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and the Chief of Army Staff & Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir attended the Emergency Meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee ( S-PDC) established under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement on 5 October 2026 in Riyadh today. The meeting endorsed the nomination of Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood(Rtd), Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) as the first Secretary-General of the Makkah Alliance for Defence . The meeting also strongly condemned the attempted targeting of the Holy Cities of Makkah and Medina, as well as continued attacks against the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The three countries exchanged views on the latest regional developments and expressed their resolve to work closely for regional peace and stability. During the meeting, Pakistan expressed its unwavering solidarity with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and expressed its full support for the Kingdom’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security. Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkiye have convened an emergency meeting of the Strategic-Political and Defence Committee of the Makkah Alliance for Defence in Riyadh on Monday to address the security developments and threats facing Saudi Arabia.
“The Committee decided to move immediately to the practical implementation of the collective defence commitments and to take the necessary measures to provide the agreed military forces and capabilities and ensure their rapid deployment in the Kingdom, in accordance with the approved arrangements and the national legislation of the Parties, thereby enhancing readiness, military integration, and the collective capacity to confront and counter threats,” according to the joint statement.
As part of the institutional development of the Makkah Alliance for Defence, the Committee decided to appoint Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood (Retd) of Pakistan as the first Secretary-General for a three-year term.
The Parties welcomed Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood (Retd), wished him every success in the discharge of his duties, and expressed their confidence in his contribution to advancing the Alliance and achieving its objectives, according to the joint statement.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye Strongly Condemn Attempted Targeting of Makkah and Madinah
Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkiye also condemned in the strongest terms the attempted targeting of Makkah and Madinah, as well as the continuing attacks targeting cities and civilian and economic facilities in the Kingdom. The Parties reaffirmed their unequivocal rejection of any attack or threat against the Kingdom’s security and territorial integrity, according to the joint statement.
Pakistan and Turkiye commended the vigilance and readiness of the Saudi Armed Forces, as well as the professionalism and high level of competence they have demonstrated in countering the threats and attacks facing the Kingdom and in safeguarding its security and territorial integrity.
During the meeting, Pakistan expressed its unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia and expressed its full support for the Kingdom’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security.
Pakistan also reiterated its continued commitment to making all efforts for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
The Committee reviewed the outcomes of the political and military consultations preceding the meeting and approved the recommendations submitted to it, affirming that the Makkah Alliance for Defence embodies a firm commitment to collective defence and a unified position in confronting threats.
The Parties affirmed that the security of each Party is an integral part of the collective security of the three countries, and that translating the Makkah Agreement for Joint Defence into practical measures demonstrates the credibility of the commitment to collective defence, strengthens the effectiveness of deterrence, and reaffirms the unity and determination of our three countries to defend their security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, in accordance with the provisions of the Agreement.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye signed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement in August, aimed at strengthening collective deterrence against any act of aggression.
Under the agreement, an armed attack against any one of the three countries would be considered as an attack against all three.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed the agreement.
The Makkah Defence Alliance’s General Secretariat is to be established in Riyadh.
Jordan Affirms Full Support for Saudi Arabia’s Security
Meanwhile, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi affirmed his country’s full support for all measures taken by Saudi Arabia to safeguard its security, stability and territorial integrity, while condemning Houthi attacks targeting areas in the Kingdom, including attempts to target Makkah and Madinah.

During the call, the Jordanian foreign minister expressed his country’s condemnation and denunciation of the brutal attacks by the Houthis targeting areas in the Kingdom, including attempts to target Makkah and Madinah, as well as civilian and economic facilities.
Safadi affirmed Jordan’s solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its full support for all measures it takes to safeguard its security, stability, and territorial integrity.
The two ministers also discussed the deep-rooted fraternal relations between the two countries and the latest regional developments.
They stressed the importance of continued coordination and consultation between the two brotherly countries to support and strengthen joint efforts to achieve security and stability in the region, SPA reported.
Egypt Reaffirms Full Support for Saudi Arabia’s Security
Meanwhile, Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed his country’s full support for Saudi Arabia’s security and stability and condemned all attacks targeting the Kingdom during a phone call with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal.
During the phone call, the Saudi and Egyptian foreign ministers reviewed the fraternal and strategic relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation across various fields, SPA reported.

“The Egyptian foreign minister reiterated his country’s condemnation of all attacks targeting the Kingdom, affirming Egypt’s full support for the Kingdom’s security and stability,” SPA reported.
The Saudi and Egyptian foreign ministers also discussed current regional developments, stressing the need to safeguard the security of maritime routes and freedom of navigation, particularly in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
They reaffirmed the two brotherly countries’ steadfast support for Sudan’s unity and sovereignty and the preservation of its national institutions, in a manner that safeguards its security and stability and fulfils the aspirations of the brotherly Sudanese people.
