DUBAI: Pakistan’s Abdullah Shafique and Ali Usman have made impressive gains in the latest ICC Test rankings, following their performances in the recent Test action involving Pakistan and England.
Shafique climbed seven places to 27th in the ICC Test batting rankings, while spinner Ali Usman made the biggest move among Pakistan bowlers, surging 30 positions to 67th after his five-wicket haul against England at Headingley.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam retained 10th place with 709 rating points, remaining the country’s highest-ranked Test batter.
Abdullah Shafique Rises in ICC Test Rankings
Mohammad Rizwan gained one position to reach 26th with 629 points, just ahead of Shafique.
Former Pakistan captain Shan Masood also moved up one place to 38th with 570 points.
Saud Shakeel, however, slipped seven places to 33rd with 605 points, while Salman Ali Agha dropped two positions to 40th. Opener Imam-ul-Haq fell one place to 57th.
England’s Harry Brook retained the No. 1 position among Test batters, followed by captain Joe Root, while Australia’s Steve Smith remained third.
Ali Usman Jumps 30 Places After Five-Wicket Haul
In the ICC Test bowling rankings, Pakistan spinner Noman Ali maintained his strong position at eighth with 792 rating points.
Ali Usman was Pakistan’s biggest mover after his impressive five-wicket haul in the Headingley Test, climbing 30 places to 67th with 340 points.

Mohammad Abbas dropped seven places to 25th, while Shaheen Shah Afridi slipped one position to 30th. Sajid Khan moved down two places to 32nd.
Hasan Ali dropped three positions to 43rd, with Khurram Shahzad falling three places to 55th. Aamer Jamal, Asif Afridi and Mohammad Ali also slipped in the latest rankings.
Meanwhile, Australia’s Mitchell Starc rose to No. 1 in the Test bowling rankings following his outstanding performance against Bangladesh, replacing India’s Jasprit Bumrah, who dropped to second. New Zealand’s Matt Henry now occupies third place.
