DUBLIN, Ireland: Persistent rain had the final say as the fifth match of the Ireland-hosted Women’s T20I Tri-Series between Pakistan and West Indies ended without a result at Castle Avenue on Wednesday, with only 16.5 overs of play possible in the first innings.

Pakistan, who were asked to bat first, managed to post 111 runs for the loss of seven wickets before rain halted proceedings and eventually forced the match to be abandoned. The no-result leaves Pakistan still searching for their first win of the series after back-to-back losses in their opening fixtures.
Pakistan’s innings in brief
Batting first, Pakistan got off to a shaky start. Opener Muneeba Ali fell early for 4, caught and bowled by Zaida James in the very first over. Gull Feroza showed some aggression with a 6-ball 10 before being caught by Deandra Dottin off Chinelle Henry.
Ayesha Zafar contributed 17 off 15 balls before falling lbw to Afy Fletcher, while Saira Jabeen made 7 off 8. Rameen Shamim played a steady hand with 17 off 16, but it was captain Fatima Sana who held the innings together, remaining unbeaten on 21 off 21 balls. Aliya Riaz chipped in with a brisk 24 off 23 before being caught by Henry off Qiana Joseph.
Tuba Hassan provided a late flourish with an unbeaten 7 off just 4 balls, including one boundary. The innings ended at 111/7 in 16.5 overs when rain intervened.
Bowling highlights for West Indies
Chinelle Henry was the pick of the West Indies bowlers, claiming two wickets for 13 runs in her two overs. Ashmini Munisar also impressed, taking two wickets for 15 runs in three economical overs. Zaida James, Afy Fletcher, and Qiana Joseph each picked up one wicket apiece.
What’s next
With the match abandoned, Pakistan remain at the bottom of the tri-series standings. The Green Shirts will now face hosts Ireland tomorrow, June 4, in a must-win encounter to keep their hopes alive in the tournament. West Indies, meanwhile, continue to top the table with eight points from three games.
