Karachi: Peshawar Zalmi’s disciplined bowling attack restricted Quetta Gladiators to a modest total of 154 runs in the 23rd match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026, played here at the National Bank Stadium on Wednesday.

Zalmi captain Babar Azam won the toss and opted to field first, a decision that proved fruitful as his bowlers struck at regular intervals.

Gladiators’ innings: Frequent wickets halt momentum

Quetta Gladiators lost opener Ahsan Ali early for just 4 runs, caught by Mohammad Haris off Iftikhar Ahmed. Captain Saud Shakeel looked promising with 16 off 13 balls but fell victim to a sharp run-out.

Rilee Rossouw (26 off 18) and Hasan Nawaz (37 off 35) tried to rebuild, but left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem broke the backbone of Quetta’s middle order, claiming three crucial wickets for just 25 runs in his four overs.

Mohammad Basit also impressed with figures of 3 for 36, removing Hasan Nawaz, Tom Curran (15), and Alzarri Joseph (6).

Late order collapse

From a relatively stable 112/5, Quetta slumped to 154 all out in exactly 20 overs. The last five wickets added only 42 runs. Khawaja Nafay (20 off 13) and Tom Curran showed some resistance but couldn’t push the total past 160.
