DOHA (Qatar): Qatari TV aired a one-hour special documentary “Al-Waseet” meaning the mediator about Qatar’s role in evacuating 75,000  Afghans.

Reports indicate that more than 75,000 people passed through Qatar as part of evacuation after the fall of Kabul 2021.

After the Taliban’s capture of Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, the country was plunged into chaos. The international media witnessed an incredible scene of death and destruction around Kabul International Airport.

It is reported that the Taliban have taken a more “tolerant” attitude than they had previously led in Afghanistan and want to establish a functioning government.

“The government is doing a good job and government officials are responsible,” said Afghanistan’s current foreign minister, Amir Khan Mutaqi, one of several Taliban officials interviewed for the document.

“It is the foundation of our state and we are determined to protect the rights of our citizens. We will oppose anyone who wants to do evil.” Saeed bin Mubarak Al Khayarin, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Afghanistan, said that in addition to all the qualities of a good mediator such as “justice” and “credibility”, “status of evidence” can be found in Qatar.

This document demonstrates Qatar’s key role in the fall of Kabul in 2021, not just as a mediator. Qatar is the doctors’ best choice in the crisis because all participants see its confidence in supporting communication between America, the Western world and the Taliban government.

A spokesperson for the Taliban government noted in the document that “Qatar has not intervened in Afghanistan and has a good reputation among the Afghan people.”

There were a lot of Afghan refugees in the Park View villa and it gave them physical and psychological care, especially for children who have no escape during the crisis at Kabul Airport.

The Qatari Government provides assistance to Afghan arrivals in a variety of ways, including scholarships and even jobs for some, as well as safe havens until they reach their destination. Qatar also continued important humanitarian work to help connect Afghanistan to the outside world.

Designed to help foreigners and diplomats arrive in the now isolated Afghan city of Kabul, the Qatar airlift has helped save many lives. The first commercial aircraft to land at Kabul Airport after the crash was a Qatar Airways Boeing 777.

However, this required the first operational repairs of the Afghan airport, with the Qatari team doing the operation of the airport’s vehicle control tower and repairing the radar system. After the fall of Kabul, more than 75,000 Afghans passed through Qatar, some of whom were able to go elsewhere. Many Afghan translators, NGO workers and two civilians were able to move to safety, largely thanks to Qatari efforts.

Having mediated various conflicts in Lebanon, Sudan, Djibouti and Eritrea, Qatar is no stranger to responsibility.

According to the documents, the US government understood that the only way to cooperate with the Taliban government was through Qatar. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced that the US military operation in Afghanistan is over and it is time to make a decision by closing its offices in Kabul and moving to Qatar. But Qatar’s role is not limited to mediation
