ISLAMABAD: Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. M. Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi has lauded Pakistan’s constructive role in fostering regional peace and security.

The Qatari minister expressed these views in a message to Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar regarding the regional situation, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office on Wednesday.

Dr. Al-Khulaifi appreciated Pakistan’s constructive engagement in fostering regional peace and security.

Ishaq Dar thanked him for Qatar’s consistent support and its positive role in advancing peace in the region and beyond.

It may be recalled that Saudi Arabia and Qatar on Sunday expressed concern over border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan, urging both sides to exercise restraint and hold dialogue to lower tensions.

Pakistan and Qatar have also expressed their shared commitment to further stratagem their cooperation across diverse fields.

The commitment was expressed during a meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Amir of Qatar Sheikh Thamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of the Gaza Peace Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, on Monday, Radio Pakistan reported.

During their meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Amir of Qatar reaffirmed the strong and historic bilateral ties between Pakistan and Qatar.

He also praised Qatar’s consistent and dedicated efforts in pursuing a just and lasting resolution to the crisis in Gaza.

Pakistan last month strongly condemned Israel’s strike on Qatar, calling it a reckless violation of sovereignty and international law, urging the international community to hold Tel Aviv accountable.

Qatar is a key trade partner of Pakistan within the GCC region and a significant supplier of LNG to the country. Approximately 300,000 Pakistanis live in Qatar, working across various industries such as construction, transportation, healthcare, education, engineering, finance, and public service.

During his visit to Doha last year, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that Qatar would invest $3 billion in Pakistan, spanning sectors like trade, investment, and culture.
