ISLAMABAD: Prominent Qatari business groups Rataj Group and Tamim Holdings have expressed keen interest in expanding their investment in Pakistan.
The interest was conveyed during a meeting between Chairman Rataj Group and Tamim Holdings, Sheikh Nayef bin Eid Al Thani, and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad, according to a statement issued by the PM House’s media wing on Monday.
Welcoming the Qatari delegation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the long-standing, close and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Qatar. He also recalled his recent visit to Qatar to offer condolences following the death of the father of the Qatari Emir.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan looks forward to the upcoming visit of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to Pakistan, describing it as an important opportunity to further strengthen bilateral relations and economic cooperation.
The Qatari delegation thanked the Pakistani government for its warm hospitality and reaffirmed its keen interest in increasing investments in Pakistan.

Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, Advisor to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, and senior government officials also attended the meeting.
Pakistan calls for stronger trade and investment ties with Qatar
Earlier on Sunday, Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani called for further strengthening relations with Qatar through increased trade, investment and socio-political cooperation.
Gilani made the remarks while meeting a Qatari delegation led by prominent businessman and senior member of Qatar’s Royal Family, Sheikh Nayef bin Eid Al Thani, in Islamabad, state-run Radio Pakistan reported.
Gilani highlighted Islamabad’s constructive role in promoting peace and dialogue at both regional and international levels.
He also invited Qatari investors to explore investment opportunities in the country, particularly in tourism, agriculture, energy and other areas of mutual interest.

Sheikh Nayef bin Eid Al Thani appreciated Islamabad’s efforts to promote peace, dialogue, development and regional cooperation.
He commended the Makkah Accord, expressing the hope that it would contribute to greater regional stability, security and unity in the Muslim world.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye signed a joint defence pact on August 7, 2026, establishing a collective security framework under which an armed attack against any one member is considered an attack against all three.
Qatar hosts a significant Pakistani community of over 200,000, contributing to economic and social development in both countries.
Energy and trade remain key pillars of bilateral relations, with Qatar supplying roughly 3.5 million tons of LNG annually to Islamabad under long-term agreements. Bilateral trade stands at about $2 billion, with Islamabad exporting rice and meat, and importing petroleum and chemical products.
