DOHA: Qatar has strongly condemned the Houthi militia’s targeting of a Saudi vessel while it was sailing in the Red Sea, terming it a serious violation of international maritime safety and a direct threat to global energy security.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement on Thursday, warned that the continuation of these rejected attacks represents a dangerous escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region and undermines efforts to consolidate regional security and stability.
It called upon the international community to fulfill its responsibilities regarding the implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216 on Yemen and Resolution 2722 on the rights and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.

It emphasised that freedom of navigation in international waterways is a fundamental principle of international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
The ministry reiterated Qatar’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to preserve its sovereignty, security, and interests.
Security of Saudi Arabia is integral part of security of Qatar
It affirmed that the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of the security of Qatar and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed appreciation for the continued efforts by the Sultanate of Oman to facilitate coordination between Saudi Arabia, the Yemeni parties, and the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, with the aim of reviving the political process and advancing the roadmap toward achieving security, stability, and peace in the region.
Bahrain denounces Houthi attack on Saudi vessel in Red Sea
Earlier, Bahrain also strongly condemned the terrorist attack carried out by the Iran-backed Houthi militia on a vessel operated by a Saudi company in the Red Sea.

The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, described the attack as a blatant violation of international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, as well as a serious threat to maritime navigation security, the safety of international trade, and energy supplies.

It reaffirmed Bahrain’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and expressed its unwavering support for all legitimate measures taken by Riyadh to protect its sovereignty, security, stability, and national interests.
The ministry also urged the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to take decisive action to halt such terrorist attacks, strengthen the security of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and other strategic waterways, and ensure those responsible are held accountable to safeguard regional and international peace and stability.
Pakistan vows to defend Saudi security
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to Saudi Arabia’s security and pledged to work closely with the Kingdom and the international community to safeguard maritime trade through the Red Sea, the Strait of Hormuz and the wider region during a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz assured the Crown Prince that Pakistan would continue supporting efforts to preserve peace, security and regional stability while ensuring the uninterrupted flow of lawful maritime commerce through some of the world’s most strategically important waterways.
