BERLIN: Pro-Palestinian protesters have interrupted German Chancellor Olaf Scholz as he attempted to deliver a speech at the opening a Book Fair.
Loud cries could be heard as the German Chancellor began his speech at country’s second-largest book fair following Frankfurt. A local newspaper reported that the protest demonstrators appeared to be pro-Palestinian activists and could be heard calling, “It is not a humanitarian disaster but it is a genocide.

According to local media, Olaf Scholz stopped his speech to address the protest demonstrators, telling them: “Stop noise”. A man could also be heard calling on the audience to stage protest against weapons deliveries to Israel.
Pro-Palestinian protest demonstrations have proliferated across Germany and Europe since October 7. Israel’s military has waged a relentless bombardment against the Gaza Strip that has killed more than 31,900 Gazans, mostly women and children, Gaza health ministry said.
