Presidential Election in Uzbekistan Continues

TASHKENT: The presidential election in Uzbekistan is underway, voting will begin at 8:00 am at 10,784 ballot boxes and will end at 20:00. local time across the country.

According to the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan, ballot boxes in all polling stations in Uzbekistan open at 8 am for presidential elections.

In addition, 56 ballot boxes established by the representatives of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 39 foreign countries, especially in the east, started to work.

Early voting started between June 28 and July 5 this year and was used by 815 thousand 313 voters, 180 thousand 729 foreign and 634 thousand 584 domestic.

According to the data given by the Central Election Commission, there are more than 19.5 million citizens (19,593,838) at the ballot boxes, of which 53% are women and 47% are men.

There are four candidates in the presidential election and campaign of Uzbekistan, namely Ulugbek Inoyatov from the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Shavkat Mirziyoyev from the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, Adorat ”Robahon Mahmudova from the Social Democratic Party and Abdushukur Khmazayev from Uzbekistan. It is worth noting that 15 international organizations and approximately 800 international observers from 47 countries directly watched the elections.

More than 53,000 local observers from the political parties and government that elected the President directly watched the election.

A total of 1,400 local and foreign press members paid for the election.

The Central Election Commission did not report any electoral law violations during the voting period.

Under the new constitution, the candidate who wins the election will be re-elected for a seven-year term.
