ISLAMABAD: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that what he described as the country’s “victory” on the battlefield must be completed through diplomatic efforts, stressing that Iran’s rights should be secured, according to IRNA.
Speaking at a meeting with senior commanders of the Law Enforcement Command (Faraja), Pezeshkian said Iran does not trust its adversaries but still views negotiations as possible if they are conducted in the national interest.
He said any potential agreement would take into account the concerns of Iran’s Supreme Leader and the broader interests of the Iranian nation, adding that Tehran would remain committed to its promises under such conditions.
Outlining Iran’s strategic choices, the president said the country faces three possible paths: entering negotiations from a position of dignity and securing national rights, continuing in a “neither war nor peace” situation, or moving further into confrontation.
He emphasised that Iran’s preferred approach aims to reinforce military achievements through diplomacy.
The objective, he said, is to ensure that the “rights of the Iranian people are established from a standpoint of honour and authority.”
The remarks come at a time of continued regional tension and uncertainty over diplomatic engagement with Western powers, particularly over Iran’s nuclear programme and broader security disputes.
