LAHORE: Ahead of the cricket World Cup later this year, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has pitched an idea regarding bilateral ODIs and a three-nation series, local media reported on Monday, citing sources.

They said the PCB has started contacting Bangladesh, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, inviting them to come to Pakistan in August and play bilateral or a tri-nation series.

In an email sent to all four cricket boards, the PCB stated the proposed cricket series would allow the visiting teams to acclimate to the subcontinent’s conditions before the cricket World Cup. The PCB wants its cricket players to get three or five ODIs before the World Cup.

Bradburn sets sights on WC, WTC final

Grant Bradburn, head coach of the Pakistan cricket team said he aims to guide the team to become the top-ranked side in all formats, win the cricket World Cup this year, and compete in the future World Test Championship (WTC) final.

During a media interaction at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), the coach emphasized the need for improvement in the department and stressed the significance of playing more cricket matches to achieve the targets. Bradburn acknowledged that arranging more cricket matches lies with the PCB, and he expressed confidence in its efforts to make it happen.

The ongoing specialized cricket camp at the NCA was a topic of discussion. He described it as a good opportunity for the players to enhance their skills. The cricket camp focuses on spinners, and Bradburn highlighted the significance of nurturing talented spinners and allowing batters to face them.

In response to a question about Abid Ali’s involvement in the camp, Bradburn praised him as a good cricket player with a decent Test average. The coach said Abid looked fit and expressed confidence in his potential comeback.

When asked about leg-spinner Yasir Shah, Bradburn said he is still part of their plans and can make a comeback.
