NEW YORK: The Palestinian ambassador at the United Nations has called for a permeant end to Israel’s war with Hamas in Gaza, saying the truce to free hostages should not be just a pause for the massacre to start again, Western media reported on Wednesday.
Riyad Mansour was speaking at UN Security Council after Israel and Hamas have just announced a deal allowing at least 50 hostages and scores of Palestinian prisoners to be freed, while offering a four-day truce in the besieged Gaza.
Mansour said after the true hundreds of Palestinian children will not be killed. He stressed that criminal assault against the people of Palestinian should be stopped.
He thanked Qatar and Egypt for their roles in making the deal possible and called on all those who contributed to stop the madness of Israel.
Mansour condemns Israel’s occupation, racial discrimination
Mansour condemned Israel’s occupation and racial discrimination, apartheid against the people of Palestiniane. He noted that there is no military solution to the conflict adding that rights of the Palestinians must be protected.
He went on to say that Palestinians do not justify the killing of a single Israeli civilian.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry the Palestinian death toll from relentless Israeli bombardment on the Gaza Strip has reached to more than 14,100. The ministry in a statement said the victims include over 5,840 children and 3,920 women.
The Israeli air and ground strikes have also caused extensive damage to buildings, including hospitals, mosques, and churches.
The dire situation in Gaza is compounded by an Israeli blockade, severing the region from essential supplies such as fuel, electricity, and water. Aid deliveries to Gaza have also reached to a minimum.
