LONDON: Pakistan have suffered more Test defeats than victories for the first time in nearly four decades after England handed Babar Azam’s side a 194-run defeat at Lord’s to seal the three-match series.
The latest result leaves Pakistan with 154 defeats and 153 victories from 473 Tests, while 166 matches have ended in draws.
It marks the first time since 1987 that Pakistan’s overall Test losses have exceeded their wins, ending a remarkable run spanning almost four decades.
Pakistan Test Record Takes Historic Turn
The previous instance came after Pakistan’s draw against England at The Oval in August 1987. At the time, Pakistan had recorded 39 victories and 40 defeats from 170 Tests.

Pakistan subsequently built a positive win-loss record that endured for decades, but a difficult run of results in recent years gradually erased that advantage.
The unwanted milestone was reached following another challenging performance against England at Lord’s.
Pakistan were dismissed for only 110 in their first innings before England eventually set them a daunting target of 389.
Chasing the target, Pakistan were bowled out for 194, despite a determined 97 from Saud Shakeel.
The 194-run victory gave England an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
England had already dominated the opening encounter at Headingley, defeating Pakistan by an innings and 103 runs.
The two successive defeats have now put Pakistan under pressure to finish the tour strongly and avoid a series whitewash.
The third and final Test will begin at Edgbaston in Birmingham on September 9, where Pakistan will seek to restore some pride and prevent England from completing a 3-0 clean sweep.
