DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Pakistan’s security forces killed three India-Backed terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Dera Ismail Khan district of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday, security sources said.
The operation was conducted on intelligence information indicating the presence of terrorists in the area, according to the sources.
The latest operation comes a day after security forces killed eight India-backed terrorists in another IBO in Dera Ismail Khan.
Security sources said the ongoing operations were proving effective in weakening terrorist networks across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The operations are being conducted under the Azm-e-Istehkam vision as security forces continue efforts to eliminate terrorist networks in the province.
Pakistan has witnessed a sharp rise in cross-border terrorist attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in 2021.
The country recorded its highest monthly number of terrorist attacks in 12 years in September 2026.

According to data compiled by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), an Islamabad-based independent think tank monitoring anti-state violence, 225 terrorist attacks were recorded across Pakistan in September, compared with 199 in August – an increase of 13%. The number of attacks rose for the third consecutive month.
Islamabad has repeatedly urged Kabul to prevent its territory from being used by terrorist organisations to carry out attacks inside Pakistan.
Pakistan maintains that the Afghan Taliban authorities have failed to take effective action against groups responsible for terrorist attacks on Pakistani security forces and civilians.
