Pakistan’s Law Minister, Swedish Envoy Review Bilateral Ties

ISLAMABAD: Swedish Ambassador to Pakistan Alexandra Berg von Linde met with Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar in Islamabad on Wednesday and discussed bilateral ties.

Both sides engaged in a fruitful discussion on the state of bilateral relations and explored areas of potential cooperation and open dialogue.

The Law Minister lauded the Swedish Government’s efforts in addressing the rise of Islamophobia at the international level highlighting Sweden’s proactive stance on promoting understanding and tolerance.

The Ambassador stressed that open dialogues are essential for fostering mutual understanding and shared perspectives between the two nations. She reiterated Sweden’s commitment to strengthening ties with GSP Plus countries, including Pakistan.

Azam Nazeer Tarar during the meeting expressed Pakistan’s dedication to improving governance in major areas such as politics, the judiciary and the freedom of the press. He added the establishment of a commission for the protection of journalists, underscored the government’s commitment to safeguarding fundamental human rights.

The Law Minister said the government is working on procedural reforms to ensure the protection of women against domestic violence, reflecting Pakistan’s commitment to gender justice.

Both parties voiced optimism about further collaboration and constructive dialogues on various issues of common interest.
