ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Tehran a few hours ago to meet with officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

A diplomatic source said today that Mr Naqvi is scheduled to meet with some senior Iranian officials during this unannounced visit.

The Pakistani interior minister had accompanied his country’s army chief on his three-day visit to Tehran on April 16 this year.

This would be his third official visit to Iran.

He is expected to push the top Iranian leadership for the early finalization of a peace accord between Iran and the United States.

Diplomatic sources said the visit is taking place at an important time for the region, as several countries continue efforts to support dialogue and prevent further escalation in the Middle East.

Pakistan has repeatedly emphasized the importance of diplomacy, negotiations and peaceful engagement in resolving regional tensions, particularly in relation to the ongoing Iran-US talks.

Islamabad maintains close engagement with multiple regional and international stakeholders and continues to support efforts aimed at achieving stability and long-term peace.
