LONDON, England: Four candidates of Pakistani origin have secured seats in the British Parliament, marking a significant milestone for ethnic minority representation in UK politics.

Dr. Zubir

Dr. Zubir Ahmed from Glasgow won on a Labour Party ticket, strengthening Labour’s influence in the region. His campaign, which emphasized community development and social justice, resonated well with voters.

Naushabah Khan

Naushabah Khan, another Labour candidate, successfully captured a seat from the Conservative Party. Her focus on healthcare improvements and economic reforms garnered substantial support, marking a critical gain for Labour and signaling a shift in the political landscape.

Saqib Bhatti

Saqib Bhatti, representing the Conservative Party, was re-elected, reflecting his strong connection with his constituents and effective advocacy for local businesses and economic growth.

Dr. Rosena Allin-Khan retained her seat in London’s Tooting, reinforcing her position as a significant political figure. Her consistent focus on healthcare and her work as an NHS doctor have earned her continued trust and support from the electorate.

Meanwhile, Keir Starmer is set to become Britain’s next prime minister with his centre-left Labour Party expected to win a significant majority in the parliamentary election, ending 14 years of Conservative rule. Labour has already won over 381 of the 650 seats in parliament, with an exit poll suggesting it would capture around 410.

The Conservatives, led by Rishi Sunak, have faced a devastating defeat, securing only 98 seats so far. This result is attributed to voter dissatisfaction with the cost of living crisis, failing public services, and a series of scandals that have plagued the Conservative government.
