LAHORE: In a move that signals Pakistan’s strategic vision for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, the Pakistan Cricket Board on Monday unveiled the squads and schedule for the National Champions Cup, a seven-match List A tournament set to ignite the country’s domestic season from 11 to 18 August at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

The competition, featuring four teams in a single round-robin format, is far more than a routine domestic fixture. With all matches scheduled as day-night encounters starting at 3pm local time, the PCB has deliberately crafted a high-intensity environment designed to identify and assess talent for the global stage.
The top two sides after the league phase will contest the final on 18 August, but for selectors, every delivery will be scrutinised.

Fixed XIs and Star captains lead a unique format
In an unusual and deliberate move, the national selection committee has named fixed playing XIs for each of the four teams, Pakistan Greens, Pakistan Whites, Pakistan Blues, and Pakistan Gold, alongside a 13-player reserve pool.
Teams must field the announced elevens throughout the tournament, with reserves eligible only to replace injured or concussed players, a rule that ensures selectors can evaluate specific combinations under pressure.
