ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday disposed of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) petition against interim order passed by the Peshawar High Court (PHC) taking away bat as election symbol from the party, following the PTI withdrew its plea.
As the proceedings started in the SC, the PTI withdrew its appeal taking the position that another similar plea was being heard by the Peshawar High Court for restoration of electoral symbol ‘bat’.
The three-bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faez Isa and comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Mussarat Hilali heard the case, local media reported.

PTI lawyer Hamid Khan said PTI’s petition was being heard by PHC. The PTI had also filed a plea in the SC to restore the party’s electoral symbol, ‘bat’.
A two-member PHC bench comprsing Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Ijaz Anwar, are hearing of PTI’s petition seeking order for the Election Commission of Pakistan to allot PTI bat as election symbol.
Earlier, that the Peshawar High Court restored the Election Commission’s December 22 decision about PTI’s election symbol and intra-party polls, following which the party was stripped of its bat election symbol. The PTI moved to the Supreme Court against the verdict of the PHC.
