ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani on Tuesday summoned a session of the upper house of parliament on October 27 on the requisition of the opposition to hold a debate on the situation in Palestine following the continued attacks of Israel in Gaza.
According to a notification by the Senate Secretariat, the Chairman Senate, exercising the power conferred by clause (3) of Article 54, read with Article 61 of the Constitution, has summoned the Senate to meet in the Parliament Building, Islamabad, on Friday, October 27, at 10:30 am.
This is the first meeting of the upper house of parliament since the caretaker set-up took up the reins of power.
PTI, PPP and JUIF Joint Requisition for Senate Session
The announcement was made after the PPP, backed by PTI, JI, JUI-F, and other political parties, submitted a requisition bearing 44 signatures to call for the Senate session.
In the session, the Senate will demonstrate solidarity with the innocent Palestinians and denounce the acts of violence carried out by the Israeli occupying forces.
