Pakistan, Saudi Arabia to Closely Coordinate Peace and Stability Efforts: Saudi FM Calls on PM Sharif

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to closely coordinate efforts to promote peace and stability in the region, as Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Sunday amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the Middle East conflict.

During the warm and cordial meeting, Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and appreciated the Kingdom’s restraint in the ongoing crisis, according to a press release issued by the PM’s Office.

The Prime Minister warmly welcomed the Saudi Foreign Minister and conveyed his respectful regards for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and warm greetings for the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

While reaffirming Pakistan’s full and unwavering solidarity and support with Saudi Arabia, the Prime Minister appreciated the remarkable restraint exercised by Saudi Arabia amid the current crisis and assured the Saudi Foreign Minister that Pakistan would always stand shoulder to shoulder with Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister recalled his recent conversations with the Saudi Crown Prince, including their meeting in Jeddah on 12 March.

He shared with the Saudi Foreign Minister Pakistan’s extensive diplomatic outreach during the current crisis, including the mediation efforts for de-escalation and bringing both the US and Iran to the negotiating table.

While emphasising the Kingdom’s leadership role in the Muslim Ummah, the Prime Minister stressed upon the need to forge unity within the Islamic countries at this critical time.

The Saudi Foreign Minister thanked the Prime Minister for receiving him and shared with him the latest Saudi perspective on the regional situation.

The Prime Minister was assisted by Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, National Security Advisor Lt. Gen. Muhammad Asim Malik, and SAPM Tariq Fatemi.

Earlier, the Saudi Foreign Minister arrived at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad, where he was warmly welcomed by PM Sharif.

“The Prime Minister warmly welcomed the Saudi Foreign Minister upon his arrival at his office,” the statement said.

Earlier, the Saudi Foreign Minister met with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and held detailed discussions on evolving regional and international developments, stressing the importance of collective efforts to promote peace, security, and stability in the region, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The Saudi Foreign Minister is in Islamabad for an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral engagement and discussing evolving regional dynamics.

Upon arrival, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud was received by Additional Secretary for the Middle East, Syed Ahmad Maroof, reflecting the importance Islamabad attaches to its longstanding partnership with Riyadh.

During his stay, the Saudi foreign minister will hold comprehensive consultations with Pakistani leadership, focusing on key regional developments and issues of mutual concern.
