The visitors, who elected to bat first after winning the toss, never recovered from an early blow and folded in 41.6 overs, setting the stage for Pakistan to chase down a modest target and seal the series in front of a roaring home crowd.
Australia’s innings unravelled within the first over when Shaheen Shah Afridi removed Matthew Short for a golden duck off the second ball of the match – caught behind by Sahibzada Farhan. Captain Josh Inglis fought back with a resilient 65 off 71 balls, laced with eight fours and a six, but found little support from the other end.
Marnus Labuschagne (19) and Alex Carey (19) managed brief partnerships, but Pakistan’s spin trio of Abrar Ahmed (2/19 off 10 overs), Shadab Khan (2/28), and the economical Arafat Minhas (1/27 off 6 overs) choked the run flow. Abrar’s stunning figures included 44 dot balls from his 10-over spell, strangling Australia’s middle order.

Shaheen finished with outstanding figures of 3/30 from his eight overs, while Haris Rauf (1/33), Shadab (2/28), and Abrar (2/19) shared the remaining wickets. Two run-outs, including Nathan Ellis off the final ball of the innings, completed Australia’s collapse at 157.

The total marked Australia’s lowest ever in Pakistan against the hosts, surpassing their previous low of 163 in Karachi during the 1982 series. It was also Australia’s third-lowest ODI total against Pakistan in any venue.
With only 158 needed for victory, Pakistan will now aim to complete a series-winning chase later in the evening.
