ISLAMABAD: The rape case of a woman who initially claimed to be a foreign national has taken a new twist. Pakistan’s capital territory police investigations revealed that the alleged victim, Farwa Kayani, is actually a resident of Rawalpindi and not a foreigner as she had claimed, according to local media.
Media reports say that Farwa Kayani is the daughter of Sultan Fareed Kayani who is a resident of Rawalpindi. The reasons behind her false claim of being a foreign national are currently under investigation.
The woman initially alleged that she was a Belgian national but could not provide any supporting documentation for her claim. Police had previously noted that she spoke Pothohari, a language spoken in northern Punjab, including Rawalpindi, while the Belgian embassy did not confirm her as a Belgian citizen. Furthermore, no evidence of sexual violence was found.
The capital police special committee, headed by a senior official, are investigating the motives behind the woman’s false claim and have reported that she is not cooperating with the investigation. They are examining the case from various angles.
Earlier, on August 14, a man named Tamizuddin was arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a foreign woman for five-day in Islamabad.
Tamizuddin was taken into custody and underwent a medical examination at the Poly Clinic. The accused has denied the allegations, suggesting that the woman may be mentally ill.
The Islamabad police stated that the 28-year-old woman, who initially claimed to be from Belgium, was also taken to Poly Clinic Hospital for a medical checkup. However, she did not possess any identification or travel documents. In her initial statement, she claimed to have been subjected to sexual abuse for five days.
