Pakistan PM Sharif Urges Unity in Eid Calls with Muslim Leaders

Pakistan premier exchanges Eid greetings with leaders of Türkiye, Jordan, Azerbaijan and Malaysia, calls for peace and cooperation across the Muslim world

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Friday called for unity among Muslim nations and urged dialogue to defuse regional tensions, as he exchanged Eid-ul-Fitr greetings with leaders across the Muslim world.

The prime minister exchanged Eid greetings with the presidents and leaders of Türkiye, Jordan, Azerbaijan, and Malaysia, while also discussing the evolving security situation in the Middle East and the need for diplomacy to resolve conflicts.

In a call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister Sharif conveyed warm Eid greetings to the Turkish leadership and people, which were reciprocated.

The two leaders prayed for peace, unity, and prosperity of the Ummah and discussed the ongoing regional escalation. Sharif strongly condemned missile attacks on Türkiye and reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with the Turkish people.

Both sides urged the international community to prioritise dialogue and diplomacy. The prime minister also acknowledged Türkiye’s constructive role in facilitating peace efforts between Pakistan and Afghanistan, particularly during the recent Eid-related ceasefire.

The two leaders fondly recalled their recent exchanges of visits and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

Prime Minister Sharif also spoke with King Abdullah II of Jordan, extending Eid greetings to the king, the royal family and the people of Jordan.

The Jordanian king reciprocated the sentiments, and both leaders prayed for unity within the Ummah. They discussed the evolving Middle East situation, with Sharif expressing deep concern over ongoing hostilities and condemning attacks on Jordan.

He reiterated Pakistan’s solidarity with the Jordanian people and stressed the need for restraint, de-escalation, and diplomatic engagement.

In a separate conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the prime minister exchanged Eid greetings and emphasised unity among Muslim nations.

The two leaders discussed hostilities in Iran and the Gulf region, with Sharif condemning attacks against Azerbaijan and expressing full solidarity with its people.

Both sides called for immediate de-escalation and resolution of disputes through dialogue.

Prime Minister Sharif also held a telephone conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, extending Eid greetings to the government and people of Malaysia.

The Malaysian leader reciprocated warmly. The two leaders prayed for peace and harmony in the Muslim world and called for the de-escalation of tensions in Iran and the Gulf region.

They agreed to continue working together to advance peace efforts and expressed satisfaction over growing bilateral ties, reaffirming their commitment to deepening cooperation.
