NEW YORK: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to multilateralism and the central role of the United Nations.
He made the remarks during a meeting with the President of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, Dr. Khalilur Rahman, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the Foreign Office said in a statement on Friday.

Ishaq Dar congratulated Dr. Khalilur Rahman on assuming the Presidency and assured him of Pakistan’s support and constructive engagement.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed confidence in the President of the General Assembly’s leadership. He assured Pakistan’s continued engagement in advancing the work of the General Assembly.
Pakistan-Singapore agree to further strengthen cooperation
Earlier, Ishaq Dar met with the Foreign Minister of Singapore Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, on the sidelines of the 81st Session of UNGA in New York.
The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and exchanged views on further strengthening cooperation across diverse areas of mutual interest, the Foreign Office said.

They agreed that sustained engagement and high-level exchanges would help deepen bilateral ties and advance mutually beneficial cooperation.
The two Foreign Ministers also exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual interest. Foreign Minister Balakrishnan appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to promote dialogue and diplomacy in addressing regional challenges.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Barbuda Affairs of Antigua and Barbuda Chet Greene, in New York.

The two sides held cordial discussions on bilateral relations and expressed a shared desire to further strengthen ties and expand mutually beneficial cooperation, including in education, diplomatic training, and other areas of mutual interest.
They also discussed cooperation at multilateral fora, particularly within the Commonwealth and the United Nations.
