RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Coast Guards, in coordination with the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC), have thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large cache of contraband items in the Pishukan area of Balochistan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The joint intelligence-based anti-smuggling operation was conducted on Wednesday on the basis of actionable intelligence, ISPR said.
The operation resulted in the confiscation of a sizeable quantity of liquor and illegal medicines, according to the military’s media wing.
The seized contraband items have been handed over to the Pakistan Coast Guards for further legal proceedings, ISPR added.
The successful joint operation underscores the effectiveness of inter-agency coordination in countering smuggling, while highlighting the resolve of the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Coast Guards to prevent the use of Pakistani waters and land for illicit activities.

The operation also reflects the continued coordination among relevant maritime and security agencies to counter attempts to use the country’s territory and waters for unlawful activities.
PM Shehbaz Praises Joint Anti-Smuggling Operation
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has commended the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Coast Guards for foiling a major smuggling attempt in the Pishukan area of Balochistan.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the joint anti-smuggling operation led to the seizure of a large quantity of prohibited items, including liquor and illegal medicines.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of institutional coordination and cooperation in efforts to eliminate the menace of smuggling from the country.
PM Shehbaz also appreciated the professionalism, alertness and preparedness demonstrated by the personnel who participated in the operation, the PMO said.
