ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday dispatched humanitarian assistance for Palestinians subject to relentless Israeli bombing.
A foreign ministry statement said that a chartered aircraft carrying 100 tons of essential medical supplies, tents, and blankets has departed from Islamabad for Egypt this afternoon.
It said Pakistan has sent humanitarian assistance for Palestinian brothers and sisters.
The statement further said that from Egypt, these items will be transferred to the people of Gaza.
Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch at her weekly press briefing on Thursday already expressed disappointment over the results of the emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) held on Wednesday and called for an immediate end to the bombing and inhumane blockade of Gaza.
Pakistan does not believe in escalation
She said Pakistan did not believe in escalation but rather sought a ceasefire and end to hostilities while calling upon the international community to work together to ensure peace.
In is pertinent to mention that Egypt has already agreed to allow aid trucks into Gaza, as anger rises globally over Israel’s siege of the Gaza.
Speaking on his way back to US from Israel, US President Joe Biden said his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah El-Sisi had agreed to open the Rafah Crossing into Gaza for humanitarian aid.
United Nations humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths stated that about 100 trucks per day were needed to meet the demands in Gaza.
