The victory marked Pakistan’s first away Test triumph since 2023 and came in emphatic fashion, with captain Babar Azam smashing consecutive sixes off Jomel Warrican in the sixth over after lunch on Day 4 to seal the win and silence the home crowd.
Shafique and Babar steady ship after early scare
Pakistan’s pursuit of the tiny target got off to a shaky start as Jayden Seales removed Imam-ul-Haq (nine) caught at slip in just the fifth over with only 15 runs on the board. However, Abdullah Shafique, who had scored a magnificent unbeaten 160 in the first innings, joined emerging opener Azan Awais (18) to steady the innings with a 27-run second-wicket partnership until Awais was bowled by Shamar Joseph.

The dismissal brought Babar to the crease, and the Pakistan skipper batted with characteristic composure alongside Shafique, who remained unbeaten on 24 from 51 balls, to guide the visitors home without further loss. Babar’s unbeaten 24 featured two sixes and two fours, underlining his class in a pressure-free run-chase.

Spinners dominate as West Indies fold for 117
Earlier on the penultimate day, West Indies resumed their second innings from a precarious 103 for six, with all-rounder Justin Greaves at the crease. The hosts could only add 14 more runs to their overnight total before being bundled out for 117, with top-order batter Brandon King unable to bat due to a lower-back injury sustained on the preceding day.

Left-arm spinner Usman, who had already made a significant impact on Day 3 by dismissing West Indies captain Roston Chase on the final delivery of the day, continued his exceptional spell by cleaning up Kemar Roach (zero) with just his 12th delivery after resumption. Greaves (three) and Shamar Joseph (nine) managed a brief 12-run eighth-wicket stand before falling to Mohammad Ali and Usman in successive overs.
