LAHORE: Pakistan has begun a regular export programme for locally manufactured Suzuki Alto and Suzuki Every vehicles to Brunei Darussalam, marking a new step in the country’s efforts to expand automobile exports.
Haroon Akhtar Khan, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, inaugurated the export programme at the Pakistan Auto Show 2026 in Lahore on Sunday. The auto show is being held from September 18 to 20 at the Lahore International Expo Centre.
The vehicles are manufactured by Pak Suzuki Motor Company, the Pakistani subsidiary of Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corporation.
More than 65 per cent of the parts used in the Alto are produced locally, according to Pak Suzuki, highlighting the role of domestic auto-parts manufacturers in the export programme.
Pakistan’s auto export
The development follows Suzuki’s August launch of the Pakistan-made Alto and Every in Brunei.
Suzuki said the Brunei programme marked the first time it had exported models from an overseas production base with the same body dimensions and engine displacement specifications as Japanese mini-vehicles.
Both vehicles use a 660cc engine and belong to the compact mini-vehicle category commonly associated with Japan’s domestic market. The vehicles are being sold in Brunei through Boustead Sdn. Bhd., Suzuki’s distributor in the country, according to Global Suzuki.
Hiroshi Kawamura, Managing Director of Pak Suzuki Motor Company, said the exports represented recognition of the quality, reliability and competitiveness of vehicles manufactured in Pakistan.
“Today is a proud moment not only for Pak Suzuki but also for Pakistan,” Kawamura said. He described the export of Suzuki Alto and ‘Every’ to Brunei as international recognition of Pakistan’s vehicle manufacturing capabilities.

The Brunei launch was announced on August 27, during an event marking the 50th anniversary of Boustead’s appointment as Suzuki’s distributor. Suzuki said Brunei has a high vehicle-per-person ownership rate, with cars widely used for daily transportation, including commuting to the workplace and school.
Boustead already sells several Suzuki models in Brunei, including the Jimny, Ertiga and Fronx. The distributor has also announced plans to begin selling Suzuki motorcycles in the country around autumn 2026.
The latest export programme adds to Pak Suzuki’s recent efforts to develop overseas markets. The company exported its first shipment of Ecstar engine oil to Oman in February 2026 and Suzuki Cultus genuine body parts to Thailand in April.
The Brunei programme was significant for Pakistan’s automotive industry because it involves finished vehicles rather than merely components or related products. It also gives local parts suppliers opportunities to participate in a supply chain serving an overseas market.
The Pakistan Auto Show 2026 brought together vehicle manufacturers, auto-parts producers, suppliers and service companies to showcase the country’s automotive manufacturing and aftermarket capabilities.
