NEW YORK: Pakistan and Bangladesh have agreed to strengthen collaboration in combating cybercrime and online fraud.
The understanding was reached during a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Bangladeshi counterpart Salahuddin Ahmed in New York, a statement issued by the Interior Ministry said on Friday.
The two sides discussed training and exchange programmes for police officers and agreed to strengthen collaboration in combating cybercrime and online fraud.
They also held a detailed exchange of views on the Iran–US conflict and the current situation in the Middle East.

The Bangladeshi Interior Minister appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional and international peace.
Speaking on the occasion, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said, “By the grace of Almighty Allah, the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal have played an unforgettable role in promoting peace.”
Interior Minister further stated, “We must capitalise on new opportunities to further strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation.”
Earlier on Thursday, Naqvi met with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on Pakistan’s mediation efforts aimed at ending conflicts in West Asia, as well as the United Nations’ peacekeeping initiatives, with particular emphasis on Pakistan’s longstanding and invaluable contributions to UN peacekeeping operations.
The UN Secretary-General appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace, said a news release issued here.
