RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s top military leadership has resolved to support the government ongoing efforts combating illegal activities that hinder economic growth, stability, and investor confidence, a military statement said on Thursday.

Inter Services Public Relations said, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir chaired the 259th Corps Commanders’ Conference at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

During the conference, military leadership reaffirmed their commitment to defend Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against direct and indirect threats, resolved that all terrorists, their facilitators and abettors, working on the behest of hostile forces to destabilise Pakistan will be dealt with “full might of the state”.

In addition to supporting economic growth, the military leadership reaffirmed their commitment to defending Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against direct and indirect threats. They denounced attempts to sow discord between state institutions and the public and vowed to respond resolutely to destabilizing forces.

The Pak Army reiterated their full support for ongoing efforts to promote socioeconomic growth through the Special Investment Facilitation Council. They also emphasized the need for rapid development in the newly merged districts (NMDs) and border regions of Balochistan to ensure sustainable peace and growth.

This commitment follows recent assurances by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir to the business community regarding transparency in dollar exchange and interbank rates.

Army Chief stated that money exchanges would be subjected to taxation to enhance transparency in currency exchange. He also highlighted the importance of the Special Investment Facilitation Council in attracting significant investments from countries like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, and others. Task forces focused on economic matters and various sectors were formed to strengthen economic decision-making.

These developments occurred amid economic challenges, including a sharp depreciation of the rupee against the dollar. However, efforts to curb the informal currency market and narrow the gap between interbank and open-market rates were initiated.

Additionally, the State Bank of Pakistan increased supervision of the foreign exchange market, ordering banks to establish separate entities for forex transactions and cracking down on hard-currency hoarders and smugglers. Structural reforms in the exchange companies’ sector were also introduced to improve services, transparency, and competitiveness.

The conference participants received briefings on the prevailing geo-strategic environment, national security challenges, and the military’s strategy in response to evolving threats. They pledged to use the full force of the state against terrorists and their supporters working on behalf of hostile forces.

During the meeting, tribute was paid to the sacrifices of martyrs, including members of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and citizens who gave their lives for the country’s safety, security, and territorial integrity. Fateha was offered for the martyrs, and the commitment to honoring them with the utmost respect and dignity was reiterated.
