ISLAMABAD: Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday on a two-day official visit to Pakistan to lead his country’s delegation at the 8th Pakistan-Oman Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) meeting.

The Omani foreign minister was received at the airport by the Secretary of the Economic Affairs Division and the Additional Secretary for the Middle East at Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the visit, the Foreign Minister would lead the Omani delegation for the Pakistan-Oman Joint Ministerial Commission. The Session would be co-chaired by the Foreign Ministers of the two countries.

The Omani foreign minister will also hold a bilateral meeting with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, the Foreign Office said.

The meeting of the Pakistan-Oman Joint Ministerial Commission would serve as an important platform to review the entire spectrum of Pakistan-Oman bilateral relations and to further strengthen cooperation in diverse fields, the Foreign Office said earlier.

The Foreign Minister of Oman is also expected to pay a courtesy call on Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during the visit, the Foreign Office said.

“The visit reflects the longstanding fraternal relations between Pakistan and Oman and is expected to further deepen mutually beneficial cooperation across multiple sectors,” according to the Foreign Office.

Earlier on Saturday, Ishaq Dar chaired an inter-ministerial meeting in Islamabad to review preparations for the upcoming 8th Session of the Pakistan-Oman Joint Ministerial Commission.

The Joint Ministerial Commission will focus on deepening cooperation in trade, investment, industry, agriculture, finance, oil and gas, labour, consular affairs, security, defence, climate change, civil aviation, education, media, and culture.

Ishaq Dar underscored the importance of the Joint Ministerial Commission in strengthening bilateral relations, directing all stakeholders to ensure thorough preparations and effective follow-up to secure tangible outcomes.

Pakistan and Oman enjoy longstanding, cordial relations rooted in shared religious and cultural values, historical connections and close people-to-people ties.

The two countries maintain strong diplomatic relations and cooperate in areas including trade, investment, defence, maritime security, education and tourism.

Their geographical proximity across the Arabian Sea has further strengthened economic and maritime links, while Oman’s Pakistani community plays an important role in fostering bilateral relations.

Both countries continue to explore opportunities to expand economic cooperation, enhance regional connectivity, and promote peace and stability in the region.
