JEDDAH: The General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed its firm condemnation of Israel’s actions in storming the town of Jenin and its accelerated settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory.
The OIC strongly denounced what it referred to as “colonial crimes” committed by Israel, the occupying power, against the Palestinian people.
In a statement released on Monday, the OIC vehemently condemned the ongoing war waged by Israeli occupying forces, particularly the bombardment of the eastern side of Jenin, which has resulted in the loss of four lives and left dozens wounded.
The indiscriminate nature of the assault, carried out by Israeli forces using Apache helicopters, has been viewed as an open aggression against residential areas. The OIC characterised this as further evidence of Israel’s alarming behaviour and its intensified aggression against the Palestinian people.
Furthermore, the OIC criticised the Israeli government’s decision to expedite procedures for constructing and expanding settlements, deeming it as an extension of the same colonial approach adopted by the Israeli government.
The OIC expressed strong condemnation for this decision, which has led to the expansion of settlements and the forced displacement of Palestinian communities from their homes. The organisation emphasized that such actions flagrantly violate international law and resolutions, notably Security Council Resolution 2334.
The OIC called upon the international community to act swiftly in order to bring an end to this aggression and expansionist colonial policy.
The OIC’s statement serves as a call to action, urging the international community to address the alarming situation and the blatant disregard for international laws and agreements by the Israeli government. The organisation emphasises the need for a prompt response to protect the rights and well-being of the Palestinian people.
