MOSCOW: North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said on Wednesday he was confident that Moscow would win a “great victory” over its enemies, during a high-profile banquet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Putin held a meeting with Putin in Russia’s Vostochny cosmodrome in the Far East, as Russia grows increasingly isolated from the West over its war against Ukraine.
Kim said that he was confident that the Russian military and people would win a great victory in the fight to punish evil groups who pursue expansion, hegemony, and ambition and to create a stable development environment, AFP reported.
North Korean leader told Putin that he firmly believed that the heroic Russian military and people would brilliantly inherit the tradition of victory and vigorously demonstrate their noble dignity and honour on the two frontiers of army operations and building a strong nation.
North Korean Leader’s Reference of Moscow’s Special Military Operation
Russian news agencies reported that during his statements, Kim specifically referred to Moscow’s special military operation– a term Russia uses for its offensive in Ukraine.
US officials and experts have warned Moscow is interested in buying North Korean ammunition to use in its war against Ukraine — an arms agreement that would defy global sanctions on Moscow.
