ISLAMABAD: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has decided against becoming part of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led coalition government at the Centre unless their demands are met.
Despite extending full support to the PML-N-led coalition government, the MQM-P is bargaining for at least “four ministries in return for fully backing the next setup at the federal level.
According to reports, the MQM-P has communicated their decision to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), stating their demand for four ministries in the federal cabinet.
Negotiations with the MQM-P are reportedly ongoing, with expectations that an agreement will soon be reached.
MQM-P leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui emphasized the importance of upholding democracy in the country during the protest. Siddiqui stated, “Democracy cannot thrive unless there is meaningful participation from the public.”
He also stressed the significance of adhering to the constitution, asserting, “It is imperative for everyone to respect the nation’s constitution.”
Furthermore, Siddiqui vowed to prevent any attempts to undermine democracy during the upcoming election for the speaker and deputy speaker.
The MQM-P won 17 National Assembly (NA) seats in the general elections of 2024 and aims to become part of the PML-N government at the Center again.
