NEW YORK, USA: The number of children killed in the current Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip surpasses the number of child victims in four years of wars around the globe, said the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini.

Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, has brought attention to the alarming number of children killed in the current aggression by Israel on the Gaza Strip.

He said while citing data from the United Nations, “The number of children reported killed in just over 4 months in Gaza is higher than the number of children killed in 4 years of wars around the globe combined.”

Highlighting the devastating toll on children’s lives, Lazzarini emphasized the gravity of the situation, describing it as a “war on children” that deprives them of their childhood and future.

According to reports from the Ministry of Health in Gaza, more than 12,300 children lost their lives between October 2023 and the end of February 2024 due to the ongoing Israeli aggression. The overall casualties from the conflict in Gaza have risen to 31,184 fatalities and 72,889 injuries, with 72% of the casualties being children and women.
