KARACHI: Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has urged the national selectors to give Mohammad Haris another chance in white-ball cricket, saying the young wicketkeeper-batter remains Pakistan’s strongest option across limited-overs formats.
Amir shared his views on social media platform X, where he praised Haris’ abilities and called for his inclusion in Pakistan’s upcoming assignments.
“I think Haris is the best option among all these keepers for white-ball cricket, so please, now is the time to think about it,” Amir wrote.
Selectors make changes to white-ball squads
Amir’s comments came after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced squads for the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka and the ODI tri-series featuring England and Sri Lanka.

Regular white-ball wicketkeepers Mohammad Rizwan and Usman Khan were left out of the upcoming squads. Khawaja Nafay was included in the T20I squad, while Ghazi Ghori and Saad Baig were selected for the ODI side.
The PCB also made a change in leadership, removing Salman Ali Agha as T20I captain and appointing Sahibzada Farhan as his replacement after he led Pakistan to a silver medal at the 2026 Asian Games.
Haris’ international record
Haris made his international debut during Pakistan’s ODI series against the West Indies in Multan in 2022.
The wicketkeeper-batter has represented Pakistan in six ODIs and 35 T20 internationals. His last ODI appearance came against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 2023, while his most recent T20I match was against India in Dubai in 2025.
Amir’s backing comes as Pakistan continues to assess its options behind the stumps ahead of a busy international schedule.
