ISLAMABAD: An individual was arrested after threatening to conduct an attack while traveling on a high-speed TGV train in eastern France on Friday.
Police sources said the man threatened to blow himself up or the high-speed train. There were no immediate findings that terrorism was the critical motive, and the individual’s mental health was being investigated, they added.
Threat on TGV Train
While talking to his Twitter handle, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said the incident occurred Friday morning when a police officer arrested a threatening individual on board a TGV fast train in Moselle. “Kudos to him,” he saluted for his bravery.
The concerned officer was off duty at the time, the police sources said. In France, off-duty policemen are allowed to carry a firearm on TGV trains as part of a “traveling to protect” government assets and public interests.
