Light Rain, Snowfall Expected in GB, Punjab and Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: Light rain-thunderstorm with light snowfall over hills is expected at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), northeast Punjab, Kashmir, and adjoining hilly areas during the next twenty-four hours, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

Cold and dry weather is likely in most parts of Pakistan, while very cold and cloudy weather will prevail in the upper areas, PMD said.

A westerly wave was affecting the upper areas of Pakistan and may persist in Kashmir and adjoining regions for the upcoming twenty-four hours.

During the last twenty-four hours, rain-wind/thunderstorms with snowfall over hills occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Islamabad, Pothohar region, Kashmir, northeast Punjab, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Cold and dry weather prevailed over other areas of the country.

Snowfall in Last 24 Hours

In the previous 24 hours, the snowfall recorded in Malam Jabba was two inches, in Kalam and Mirkhani 1.5, in Bagrote and Chitral one, and in Murree 0.5 inches.

The lowest minimum temperatures recorded were Kalam -08, Leh -09 C, Astore, Gupis, Malam Jabba -5, Skardu and Bagrote -3 C.
