JOHANNESBURG: Two people were killed on Sunday after a light aircraft they were traveling in crashed in Johannesburg, said the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA).
The aircraft was being used for a training mission. It took off from Grand Central Airport in Midrand between Pretoria and Johannesburg. The aircraft, however, crashed minutes later close to a mine dump near the First National Bank stadium south of Johannesburg.

Two occupants were onboard the aircraft and both sustained fatal wounds. The aircraft was also damaged,” said the SACAA in a statement.
The cause behind the accident, which occurred at 9 am local time has not yet been revealed by the SACAA. However, it said a preliminary report will be issued in 30 days. — AA/APP
