ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation on Tuesday with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Sabah, during which the latter commended Islamabad’s role in facilitating talks between Iran and the US following the ceasefire.

Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to continue sustained efforts, emphasising dialogue and diplomacy as the only viable path to resolving issues, the Foreign Office said.

“Both sides reaffirmed the strong Pakistan–Kuwait ties and agreed to remain in close contact,” It added.

Earlier, Pakistan-mediated talks between the United States and Iran concluded in Islamabad after more than 21 hours of intensive negotiations, with all sides signalling that diplomatic engagement will continue.

The negotiations were led by US Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, who headed their respective delegations in discussions covering a wide range of sensitive issues.

Reuters and other credible international media outlets reported on Tuesday, citing multiple sources, that negotiating teams from the United States and Iran could return to Islamabad later this week for a renewed round of peace talks.

According to multiple diplomatic and regional sources, a proposal has already been circulated to both Washington and Tehran, suggesting that delegations reconvene in Islamabad to continue discussions aimed at narrowing differences on key security and geopolitical issues.

Two Pakistani sources familiar with the matter said Islamabad has been actively communicating with both sides regarding the timing of the next round of talks, and that a weekend meeting remains the most likely option if negotiations proceed.
