ISLAMABAD: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and around the world will observe August 5 as Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir (Day of Exploitation), marking their protest and resistance against the Indian government’s move—led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi—on this day in 2019, which they regard as illegal and unconstitutional.
On August 5, 2019, the Hindutva-influenced BJP-led Indian regime had illegally and unilaterally abrogated Article 370 and 35-A of the Indian constitution, revoking the Special Status of Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The day is marked by a series of events and activities aimed at expressing solidarity with the people of Kashmir and denouncing the Indian government’s actions.
In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmiri leaders have renewed their call to observe August 5 as Youm-e-Istehsal, highlighting it as a reminder of what they consider a unilateral and unlawful move by India to alter the region’s constitutional status.
According to the Kashmir Media Service (KMS), the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has urged the international community to curb what it described as India’s rising jingoism before it escalates into a wider regional crisis.
The APHC further warned that the aggressive and expansionist policies of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are driving South Asia toward the brink of a potentially catastrophic conflict.
