  • The action stripped the state of its autonomy

ISLAMABAD: Resistance leaders in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K) have reiterated their call for observing August 5 as Youm-e-Istehsal (Day of Exploitation) to mark the anniversary of India’s revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.

In 2019, India revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir by repealing Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, a move that violated the UN Charter.

The action stripped the state of its autonomy and reorganised it into two union territories, including Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

The Indian Supreme Court upheld this decision in December 2023.

Expansionist policies

The Kashmiri leaders strongly warned that the aggressive and expansionist policies of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were “pushing South Asia to the brink of a catastrophic conflict”.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) urged global powers to “rein in India’s jingoistic ambitions before the situation spirals into a broader regional crisis.”

“Atrocities”

It also condemned Indian “atrocities”.

Meanwhile, Indian security forces martyred a Kashmiri youth in Kulgam district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, marking the sixth killing in the territory during the ongoing week, according to Radio Pakistan.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the youth was martyred during a cordon and search operation launched in the Akhal forest area of Devsar.
