GAZA CITY: Israeli strikes killed at least seven Palestinians across the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, including five people in a refugee camp and two others in a vehicle, according to local health officials.

Medics and residents said an Israeli drone fired a missile at a group of people in eastern Maghazi Camp, killing at least five individuals and injuring several others.

“Five martyrs and several wounded were transferred (to hospital) after an Israeli airstrike targeted a group of citizens in eastern Al-Maghazi,” the civil defence agency said.

Al Aqsa Martyrs Hospital and a Palestinian security source confirmed both the incident and the casualties.

Later in the day, an Israeli air strike targeted a car in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis, leaving two people dead and several more wounded, medics reported.

The Israeli military described the incident as a “targeted strike” but did not release further details.

A ceasefire agreement brokered in October by US President Donald Trump has failed to fully stop Israeli attacks in Gaza.

Local authorities say the ceasefire, intended to end a two-year war that has killed more than 72,000 Palestinians and injured over 172,000 since October 2023, has been repeatedly violated.

Israel and Hamas remain locked in indirect negotiations over the implementation of the second phase of the truce, which includes the group’s disarmament and the withdrawal of Israeli forces.

The ceasefire has left Israel in control of more than half of Gaza, while Hamas retains control over a narrow stretch of coastal territory.

According to Gaza health officials, around 900 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes since the ceasefire came into force.

Earlier this month, Gaza’s Government Media Office said it had documented at least 2,400 Israeli violations in the first six months of the ceasefire, including air strikes and shootings.
