GAZA CITY, Palestine: Israeli military fire killed five more Palestinians in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll from Israel’s military campaign since October 2023 to 74,382, the Palestinian territory’s Health Ministry said on Monday.

In its daily statistical report, the health ministry said the death toll included three new fatalities and two people who died of earlier wounds, while 18 people were injured in attacks over the past day, raising the overall number of injuries to 175,416.

Despite a ceasefire in effect since October 10, 2025, Israel has continued daily attacks in the Palestinian enclave, killing 1,493 people and injuring 5,299 others, according to the ministry.

Israel’s bombardment campaign has also caused widespread destruction affecting around 90% of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure, with an international report estimating recovery and reconstruction costs at around $71.4 billion.

The Israeli military claimed it targeted a combatant in the area, without giving further information.

Late on Sunday, an Israeli airstrike hit a tent in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, killing three people, medics said. The Israeli military said on Monday they struck combatants in the area, Reuters reported.

Israel, which alleges Hamas has been rearming and launching attacks in violation of a ceasefire, has stepped up strikes on the group in recent weeks.

Last year’s US-brokered Gaza ceasefire calls for the eventual reconstruction of the territory. But little progress has been made towards implementing a deal to end the conflict that includes terms for Hamas to disarm and Israel to withdraw its troops.

Gaza health officials have said at least 1,400 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since the October 2025 ceasefire.
